  • I just wanted to say hello!! I breastfed my first son until he was 2.5 and we are on track to do the same with DS #2. He's 18 months and showing no signs of being ready to stop. :)

  • Anyone else tired of hearing women bash breastfeeding? I was watching Penn and Teller's BS on Netflix and there was a lawyer proclaiming a need for a ban on public breastfeeding because it is akin to child abuse when a child sees it in public. I have had similar comments made on FB by friends. I love breastfeeding, I support all nursing moms, and would hope that all women would support mothers who want to feed their babies best.
I nursed my first son for 6 months after 2 bouts of mastitis and am still nursing my 10 month old. My husband is an integral part of my confidence, he fully and wholly supports breastfeeding! Breast is best for mother and baby.

  • I loved this video. I'm definitely an advocate of breastfeeding. I'm the mother of FIVE breastfed kids. Only two of my children ever even tasted formula - one it was strictly a supplement provided to the daycare JUST IN CASE she ran out of expressed milk before I was able to bring more; and the other was ONLY because my milk dried up due to the *stupid* hospital giving me DEPO without telling me that it could - and did - dry up my milk supply :( It was my second baby, and my first experience with DEPO so I was completely unaware. My oldest was breastfed until she was nearly 20 months. My son (regretfully) was only nursed for about 2 weeks... when we went for his checkup, he was actually dehydrated from my lack of milk. We tried incessantly to build my supply while supplementing, but it just wouldn't happen. Our third child was nursed - and self-led her weaning process - until she was 13 months old. Our fourth began weaning at 11 months and became uninterested by the time she was a year old. Our fifth - and FINAL - baby is 11 months old and doesn't have ANY desire to wean or even think about getting "off" the breast, so we'll see. LOL I do believe in allowing them to lead the process. I was nursed by my mom until my 3rd birthday - she then completely cut me off LOL I don't think for myself I would allow my children to nurse past the age of 2, but I wouldn't dare tell someone else what is right for their family...

  • I loved the video Ignorance Meets Knowledge. My daughter is now 14 months old and I'm still breastfeeding, though I'm considering trying to ween her off since lately she's being very cruel with biting and pinching. But I still continue to breast feed and am glad that I have for so long. As a result, I really do believe my daughter is healthier then she would be had I not.
